Ballard Design knockoffs...

So, the first time I saw these pillows I died. 1) I love decorative pillows. 2) i LOVE burlap - we were meant to have these pillows...YA RIGHT! at Ballard Designs for $59 each, holy crazy! $120 bucks for 2 pillows. I think not.

Thankfully, all the creative ladies out in blog land started making their own....so I found some simple directions and set out to make my out. It was definitely easier than I though sewing on the burlap...and looking back, the only things I would change are:


1. Learn how to hide my stitch (after the pillow is flipped and stuffed)
2. Find a stencil, because my free hand sucks. (I tried printing a wannabe stencil from word. didn't work)



But, I think they turned out alright...I will keep them until I buy a silhouette (or get one for xmas... wink wink Mom and Dad!) or at least find some stencils!

Reason 203498340958 why I love Chad:

He gets the big scary spider out of my makeup bag! HOLY CRAP! I about peed my pants when this happened....I had just got out of the shower, and was dancing to some Spice Girls in my littles, when Chad went to go get a package from the office. I started pulling out my makeup, and thought "MAN girl, you need to clean your brushes, they are getting so hard and prickly..." Then, I looked again, and this HUGE spider was in my bag. I opened the door, and screamed out "CHAAADDDD"...then ran around the house for 5 minutes until he came home and flushed it. ICK.

Brown recluse? I think so.

Smartie Pants....

My Mr. Man set a date for his DAT. August 17th!!! HOLY CRAP! That is 23 days from now. So, if we fall off the face of the earth, it is because Chad is burried in books... I am feeding him, and trying to keep him focused. We <3 you all, and can't wait to be DONE with this test, and the stresses that have come with it! Wish Chad luck!

Our new ride...

Bye Cooper, HELLO JETTA!! Our good friend Fred bought this car for an amazing deal, fixed it up, painted it, and sold it to us! Hopefully this car will get close to 50 mpg, and with me walking to work...Chad gets to drive this bad boy to school/work....That means we keep miles and the cost of gas off the vanagan.

This whole car experience has been tough for me. I'm NOT one for change, so it was hard to sell the focus, to buy the Cooper, then to sell it and have this car. I am usually picky about cars, (The Focus, and Cooper were CUTE!)...and this Jetta isn't really me, BUT, it has been a very humbling experience realizing that I have to be considerate to the needs of starting my family. Chad and I are on a very small income, and being able to save gas, and have our gas go longer, will help exponentially. It has really taught me how materialistic I can be, and that what car a person drives doesn't determine who they are as a person. Fred's old Jetta had a sticker on it that said, "Sing songs, and plant seeds..." Think we are going to have to find one of those...

Yay for growth opportunities!


Oh, and Chad promised me that when we are rolling in dough, he will buy me a Cooper :)

TWILIGHT FOREVER!!

My best friend Kari is in town for a couple months before she departs to Costa Rica to learn Massage Therapy....and this little lady loves her some Potter. SO, because I love Kari to death, Idecided to buy us Midnight Potter Tickets to the final (thank goodness) Potter movie. We spent 3-4 days before, watching the 1-7.1 movies. It was fun, and I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed them. I'm pretty sure that I cried every movie....We got to lay around on the couch, cuddle, and paint nails for a couple nights....and joke about who's hotter, Ron, Snape, or Draco (yummm). Chad, and our friend Brad joined us for a couple of the movies....and then Thursday (after we watched 6 & 7.1) we got ready, and headed downtown about 9pm...we got Cold Stone, and then met up with some friends who were saving our spot in line (BOOYAH!!) After standing in the cold for about 3 minutes we got to go inside....were we sat and waited for 2 hours. The last movie was really great, I won't spoil it for you....but I did cry like a big baby....but because I haven't read the books, and didn't know what happened....really didn't happen.

And this is one of the guys who was there with my friend Sabrina, he had the 'Deathly Hallows' tatto on his wrist! Crazy right?

Unpacked Casa...

Here's a quick video of the apartment mostly unpacked. Chad started unpacking a couple nights ago, and stayed up until 7am and unpacked everything because I was so stressed about unpacking every night after I get off work. Don't I have an amazing husband? Love this guy. He says I should have talked throughout the video, but I will do that once we fully unpack, and I start to decorate. Didn't he do a great job? He put up our new shower bar, so that we have a bigger shower, and got the kitchen all done - unpacked the entire living room...set up the storage room...now I just need to hang up our picture wall, and make some colors pop...

Man. This is one of those sad upsetting stories, that still kind of urks me. Urks me because I don't do well with change, and because we lost money. We bought the Cooper the middle of Febuary, and just sold it today (yep, 4ish months later). The mechanic had it longer than I did {seriously}. We put more money into repairing the lemon than I would like to mention, and I miss is dearly, but it was time to cut our losses and run. I never ever wanted to own a Mini, but as soon as I got behind the wheel, I was hooked. Chad has agreed to get me one when he finishes Dental School :)
