Grandparents

We were lucky and had help the last two weeks from Presley's Piercy Grandparents {my mom & dad} and I cannot even put into words how helpful it was to have an extra hand those first few weeks home with a newborn. I am so thankful that my parents took time off of work, to fly from Nebraska to visit us and lend a hand.

My mom came first for a week and she ROCKED it. My mom works in a daycare, so she is a gem with kids {she is anyways, the daycare is lucky they have her.} I don't think I even touched Presley the week she was here. My mom did EVERYTHING. I was beyond thankful to have her here first, because it gave me time to rest, recover and get a little more situated with life as a Mother.
I got to ask her TONS of questions, learn some secret tricks, and of course have Mother Daughter time.
I have always loved and appreciated my mom more than I could ever express to her, but having my own child {and a girl!} really put into perspective all the sacrifices my mom made for me, and how horrible I treated her without even thinking, while I was growing up.
{Karma is going to be a B**** and i'm terrified already}
My mom has such a selfless personality, and gives EVERYTHING without question to EVERYONE around her before taking care of herself. She has the biggest heart, and the warmest hugs. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever met, and I value our friendship more than anything in the world.
I do not know where I would be without her.
She is everything I want to be as a Mother.

She made me this sling (that Pres falls asleep in EVERY time she's put in it!)

After Moms visit my Dad came.
It was great to see my Dad with his first Granddaughter, and I could see how much he loved her the second he looked at her. My Dads not a softy on the outside, but I know that Pres will have him wrapped around her cute little long fingers. My dad helped us so much with taking care of the dog, taking him on a lot of walks, running errands and feeding Pres. When Chad and I were exhausted he'd help by walking her when she wouldn't stop screaming. It was a blessing to have him here, and to see a Granddaddies love.
My dad was here when a bad case of Mastitis made it's appearance. He listened to me cry and vent, and the day he left took me to buy a top of the line Medela Breast Pump. I was using another pump, that worked well, but was very time consuming, loud and painful - this pump has been a godsend, and I am so thankful that my dad broke down and got it for me.
My dad has always had a soft heart, but has always had a hard time showing myself {and the bros} how much he cared about us.
The amazing thing about having a child, is that you can very easily see how much love parents really do have for their children. It was great to be able to watch my dad with Presley, and to see how hard he tried to keep her happy, and content. He hummed songs while he walked her, was soft and gentle when she was mad, and always willing to learn how he could help more.
I am so thankful that my dad was able to take time off of work to come help, and that Presley got to spend lots of cuddle time with him!

  1. Grandparents are amazing! I love how much my parents do for us. I couldn't make it without them. I want to get them a special gift for all they have done.
